The use of online doctor reviews, social media interactions, do-it-yourself health apps and medical tourism has turned health care into a highly competitive retail industry. In this session, you’ll review best practices with those who have been driving this real change, and benchmark data that will help you establish a foundational groundwork. You’ll also:

  • Learn to recognize the changes that are impacting how patients choose health care providers.
  • Understand how to implement tactical how-tos in order to shift from marketing in a highly regulated environment to a competitive retail environment.
  • Learn how to increase engagement with younger generations via social platforms.

Balderaz specializes in connecting health care organizations to patients through a process called “The Digital Patient Journey.” His insights on the current and future state of health care have been published in dozens of publications, and he regularly presents on the topic.


Alisa Agozzino, Ph.D., APR, assistant professor, Ohio Northern University

Agozzino serves as editor-in-chief of the PRSA Educators Academy newsletter, and also is the co-chair of the PRSA Central Ohio public relations committee. Agozzino’s main research interest lies in social media tools within the public relations field. Her current research agenda examines how social media impacts different industries — from nonprofit to admissions offices to public relations professionals.


Beth Keehn, director, brand, marketing and communications, St. Rita’s Health Partners
